I’m so excited! It’s time for another road trip into deepest, darkest Berkshire. Master has packed his bag and he tells me we’re off to a place called Warfield. He also tells me he’s going to “exorcise the demons of the leave”. What is he talking about? On arrival at the ground, I’m relieved to see some familiar faces. Perhaps I will be able to spend some time with one of these other fine gentlemen. Maybe someone who’s not so keen to leave me. The boys initially did well but with 100 runs coming from the last 15 over Warfield set a good target of 204-6. I watch Bruce intently as he opened the innings…he even left a ball again but then punched a ball from his chest onto his stumps to then return to see me……still don’t understand this game. Then another of my masters Will was out there batting. He did a good job before being caught near that rope thing. Three more people came back and 150-7 looked difficult for the boys. OUCH!!! What? Eh? Aaarrgh!! I must have drifted off there for a bit, but I was rudely awakened! I received what can only be described as a sharp blow to the tender area between my hind legs (the Dog’s B*ll*cks, if you will). What a way to be roused! Apparently it turns out that my previous master’s master had noticed that I was not paying full attention and had decided to send me a wake up call, which he executed perfectly. Fortunately, it turned out that my current master took a dislike to this act and on the grounds of animal cruelty, this was one he couldn’t leave. Blue stripe and mastership was awarded to Herro. Next thing I remember was he was taking me home…or so I thought.
Oh the joy of 1st Xl life my first pint of Becks at the Club's drinking house (The Rising Sun @ Stockcross)
And then some of the Captain’s Chili, WOW that's one hot dish - the food not the skip!! I think I could enjoy this week!
